Redo because I forgot to add the picture 😁 From this pile of wool (fluff) and wire a mighty dragon will emerge. Hopefully! I am doing a guided course with the fabulous Em from Stab the Fluff which starts on Saturday. My aim is to design my own dragon (a sea dragon seems appropriate) and create it over the coming weeks using both needle sculpting and wet felting techniques. *gulps*

Just been told my grandson has swallowed his phone and it got stuck in his throat...

I'm gonna ring his neck!

I saw someone else was posting one thing a day in Welsh. I think I will try the same.

S’mae! Ada dw i. Cerflunwyr dw i. Dw i’n mwynhau dysgu Cymraeg.

Please don't censor words!

If you change characters in the words then the keyword mute thing can't filter out the post from people's timelines.

Trust people to block keywords they don't want to see!

(Also you can put things in CWs if you want to be extra cautious.)

Cat 5 ‘not my cat’. When we moved here nearly two and half years ago there was a sad bedraggled Tom cat living in the greenhouse. No one seems to know anything about him. He’s now fed by me and has a better bed. Great for controlling the rodents in the duck house! A tabby and white cat we call Dylan Thomas. He’s an outdoor and can’t be touched!

This is beautiful Oliver. He lets me live in his house if I keep him supplied with posh food and plenty of treats. He’s very tolerant of being told a hundred times a day that he’s the most handsome cat in the world.

Regular visitor cat. So cat 4.5 if you like. Belongs to my daughter and comes with her when they visit. This is Poppi, adopted from Battersea by my other child who moved into a shared house with a dog. She’s a very dainty little tabby with very dark paws. She loves our sunroom and when she visits I am responsible for feeding and tray emptying (not sure how that happened! 🤣)

Cat number 4 was my daughter’s but didn’t settle when they moved to a flat. She likes to be upstairs! Raya is a three year old Tortie and white with a lovely ginger blaze on her head. She’s an absolute monkey!

Something to consider when posting hashtags:

For people using screen readers, they know when to separate words either by spaces, or uppercase letters. 'mastoart' will try to be pronounced as one word, whereas 'MastoArt' will be pronounced as 'Masto Art'. It just makes life a little bit easier for those who rely on screen readers to interact with the fediverse :bear_hugs:

Media descriptions are a hard thing to get a handle on, and it's a new habit to get into.

You can follow @PleaseCaption who will yell at you whenever you forget to describe your media - it's a big help!

How to describe:
*Include the media and style ("a rough black ink sketch")
*Include the subject ("...of a woman in a field")
*Include the mood ("she looks happy and the scene is peaceful").

Tell the story of your image to someone who can't see it. :frida_y_animalitos:

Cat number 3. Katie Kitty Beanz or Beaniez. She’s another adopted cat but directly from previous owner who had to move. She’s about 17 years old and like all Torties she has lots of attitude! She likes to climb so here she is balancing on our weeping silver birch tree with a clear blue sky behind her.

Here’s an illustration I completed earlier this year, after the idea got stuck in my head and haunted me for weeks.

Every time I passed these roadside signs on the motorway, my head would start planning how to turn it into a shelter between settlements during a zombie apocalypse! I finally just sat down and drew it, and this is the result!

To help some of us newcomers make connections: name 5-7 things that interest you but aren't in your profile with hashtags so they are searchable. Then repeat these instructions so others know to do the same.

If you're coming from Twitter, you might not recognize the "post privacy" option.

Basically, each post you send on Mastodon can have 1 of 4 privacy settings: Public, Unlisted, Followers-only, or Direct.

Basically, Public goes far and wide, Followers-only is nice for more personal stuff (and can't be boosted -- retweeted), and Direct means it's like a Direct Message to any and all users you mention (tag) in your post.

This is Jaspurr. Another rescue. He is18 and we adopted him aged15. He was going to be put to sleep but vet refused and he was taken in by Cats protection.

Let me introduce my cats. First up is Benny The Bear. He’s a rescue, allegedly ‘feral’. He likes cuddles, food and sleeping in the sun. Very purry!

Hello! I am a fibre artist living near Aberystwyth. I am learning to speak Welsh (slowly!). I have cats, hens and ducks. I enjoy working on my mountainside garden.
