For 18 months I have been treated for breast cancer by wonderful NHS. I have had two surgeries,chemotherapy,radiotherapy heart scan and CT scan and my first mammogram.Now on targeted therapy for 3 years. I have not had to worry if private health insurance would cover my expensive treatment.
Please don't support politicians that want to replace the by the American heath model. This includes Farage and Reform. Check out his policies and backers.

I have only just read the comments on this post. Thank you for the well wishes and the comparisons with other countries. ♥️

@MelSedds Don't forget Streeting and his chums in the believers in US style health care!

@MelSedds @blogdiva I had the same via Australian Medicare. Can’t say enough about the value of affordable and accessible tests. The thought of navigating this common cancer in the US is really daunting. Here all I had to think about was surviving physically, not financially.

My friends in the EU are astonished at what I pay out of pocket in spite of my big tech funded #healthinsurance policy. Ironically my coverage is far better than that of a relative who has a comparable role working for an #insurance carier.

@MelSedds I've always been profoundly grateful for the amazing NHS treatment I had following diagnosis of bowel cancer, but maybe took the fact it was all free for granted until I read how American actor James van der Beek was having to sell stuff to pay for the same, or similar, treatment. All those American horror stories...

@MelSedds Glad you are getting the treatment you need. In civilised countries, that is how it is. Here in Eastern EU, found I had colon cancer, in less than a month from first signs, I had half a colon removed. Operation and hospital treatment all on the national system for no payment. (I did pay about $100 for a private colonoscopy to avoid a wait of ~1 month). The USA system is not fit for (any) purpose - it just makes a hell of a lot of money for those at the top.

@MelSedds ask yourself "who benefits" from a US style model, and look at the discussion around UHC due to the recent headlines. The general public (who will be told by the press, politicians, and billionaires that it's "better") absolutely won't be better off. The US has worse healthcare outcomes than any country in Europe, and drives people into debt. Anyone proposing that in the UK instead of fixing the #nhs is evil

@MelSedds

Such good news and a wonderful message to our awful politicians…both Tory and Labour In Name Only!
