I love our delphium Faust.
Such intense and saturated colours and over 7 feet tall too.
@MikeInTheGarden 7 feet tall? Holy schmoly!
@StudioCaroline yes, they are only supposed to get to 5 feet but such is life...
@MikeInTheGarden I’m envious and impressed! I’ve just planted a baby delphinium. Any secrets to success in an exceptionally thriving plant?
Grow your small plant in a 2 litre pot for the first few months. This will help produce a strong root system. Plant out in September.
Alwaysunny position.
Cover crowns with horticultural grit.
Be vigilant every February for slugs and snails.
I use pelleted chicken manure in late February & April.
Put stakes in place by mid March & loosely tie growths in as they grow upwards.
Cut stems down to the ground after flowering for a second flowering for August September. ,
@MikeInTheGarden thank you! : )
