Top tip for tourists as of this weekend kicking off #tourism season here in #Wales: speed signs are indicators, not challenges. Just because you're on an A-road doesn't mean you'll actually achieve those 50 mph like it says on that sign. Especially not when the road snakes around the side of several mountains for the stretch of some 50 miles. That sign does not give you your top speed, but the speed at which you're guaranteed to crash and die.
I hope whoever was involved in that RTA down the road an hour ago made it out ok and got to the hospital in time. And didn't require getting airlifted to the bigger hospitals at least 70 miles away in either direction.
Meanwhile the main road is closed and traffic has to be diverted through narrow B roads lined by fields where sheep are prone to escape. So this makes it even more dangerous now.
Drive slow.
Safe several lives in addition to your own!

If you're on a high powered motorbike you can exceed double the speed limit. For a very short but exciting period. After which you become what transplant surgeons call ' the donor'.

@pthane @_bydbach_ I recall a story of a patient in need of a replacement organ. In the consultant's office after asking how long he'd had to wait being told "well they don't come in very often so I'd normally say be prepared for maybe a year's wait. But I see it's started raining, so about half an hour".

@_bydbach_ @pthane oh yes, of course it was. Thanks for the reminder.
