I see Microsoft have made another Helvetica-alike again. My lukewarm take is that Monotype needs to be taken over by a UN agency and all the older stuff they’ve hoovered up made public domain globally.

@aegir I don’t really get the trend of remaking fonts like this—especially when it’s a very faithful remake (like Neue Haas Grotesk from a decade ago). Like, clearly a lot of work has been done but it feels very Pierre Ménard.
(This is probably a sign that I fundamentally don’t understand type design.)
@futuraprime It always seems to be so they have a thing they own, but missing the point of there being classics. There are so many glorious new typefaces (futurefonts.xyz for example) so this endless remakery feels depressing.
