These dark cloudy skies yesterday were just the start of storm Betty. She's been blowing away all night but we're safe in our solid little cottage. We've had far worse than this here. It's stood since the 18th century and has seen everything that storms can throw at it. They certainly knew how to build things years ago. They understood how to work with the landscape and the direction of the winds etc. Modern housebuilders could learn a lot.

Land, sea and sky. The sky is filled with dark grey cloud with patches of brightness. The sea is looking choppy as the wind starts to pick up. The tops of the waves are highlighted white as they roll over.

@druid survivor bias! most other houses they built were blown down / fell down / rotted in place
