"It was widely believed that a local landmark was created on #GoodFriday. The twin peaks of Mynydd Ysgyryd Fawr (The Skirrid).
Legend has it that at the moment of the crucifixion, there was a great earthquake near Abergavenny which caused part of the summit to collapse, giving it the staggered shape it has today.
This legend resulted in the mountain becoming an important place of medieval pilgrimage. Its English name. ‘Skirrid’ is an anglicisation of the Welsh word ‘Ysgyryd’ meaning ‘shake’."
@druid Dang, I need to add Wales to my places to visit in the UK list. Also northern, southern England (not London).
@javensbukan Definitely! Wales has stunning landscapes and gorgeous beaches. I recommend a visit to northern Wales where you'll find some of the most dramatic scenery. It also has lots of nice castles such as Caernarfon. Then of course there's beautiful Ynys Môn! So many places to see.
