@hugh must not post that the lake at Van Mildert was poor design work on the car park so it filled up when it rained. Ooops. And I did.
@hugh well it looks better with it. On the whole during my stay at Hild Bede the ponds were a lot more unpleasant than the VM lake so probably a happy coincidence that the initial car park got inundated.
@hugh the ponds seemed to be an outlet for the Bede Horticultural Society/ Carrot Club / Izel Med Association drinking excesses which made them a challenge. Rugby team at their level best.
@hugh the late former Principal Dr Vernon Armitage at HB suggested when they drew up a fake coat of arms (following an incident involving them turning bed slats into skis during a snowy patch and upsetting the Domestic Bursar that they adopt "it seemed like a good idea at the time" as their motto.
@gregoriosw An excellent motto:
Videbatur tempore utilem
@hugh Yep. I think they had tops done with it on. They kept getting shut down thus the various name. I once had the unpleasant experience whilst portering over the summer of having to clean up their Cavern Club under the Caedmon Hall with a hose and bleach. Nearly passed out from the fumes produced!
@gregoriosw Yeech!
