Moving to hidden for some folks waiting on watching later.

Australia capitalise and grab a strong try from a cross field kick to Cooper. Foley misses the conversion though

Wales lose a second lineout leading to a lot of movement from Australia. Beautiful footwork from Kerevi but Biggar makes a heck of defensive tackle. It's a penalty advantage and Australia come back for the kick. The kick is good, and Biggar is off for.. HIA?

Everyone's settling in and the score is pretty reflective of both teams' hunger. Australia levelling things up thanks to their set piece work. Josh Adams is everywhere today, Rhys Patchell called on to kick a penalty and he nails it.

AUSvWAL Match Thread

Roman Poite being told to take a look at the Kerevi hit on Patchell. I'd say it was a poor tackle from Patchell more than anything. Penalty awarded to Wales nonetheless. With all the press this week on red cards, referees and rules, Roman Poite has all the encouragement he needs to get even more chatty than usual.

So it's a penalty to Wales and I have to agree with Aussie captain Hooper, this is not a penalty offence, it's poor tackling technique from Wales. But hey, Patchell kicks it, it clinks off the left upright and it's more points for Wales. Play to the ref.

Half-time gong leaves Australia wondering what to do next. Biggar is off for good clearly, I'm worried about his shoulder. Wales seems to have this game (and the ref) figured out so far. AWJ and Navidi working hard, but the entire team is clearly here to win it.

We are back with an energetic restart, and it seems the drop goal is a named tactic here. Patchell following in Biggar's footsteps and we get another opening drop for three. Hymns and arias across the pitch. LOUD.

This game has plenty of legs in it yet. Outstanding phases from Australia and it's try Gold. Wainwright showing why he was picked but not enough to stop the onslaught. Australia changing out a few players and Toomua on for Foley. Conversion is good.

Nicky Smith and Ross Moriarty on for AWJ and Wainwright. Lineout Wales. Red wins for a change.

Gareth Davies carbon copies his earlier interception but knocks it on. He's not happy, according to the lip readers. And we are back for another high contact in slow motion. Boos from the Australians in the crowd but Josh Adams clearly does nothing wrong in the endless replays. But it's a penalty to Australia. Refs are insisting on lower contact, and generally I'm in agreement.

Blistering line speed from Wales pressures the Australian attack, two knock-ons in quick succession. Genia's off replaced by White. Australia look surprisingly tired. Scrappy but successful lineout from Australia. Another knock-on though. Scrum Wales. I miss Samson Lee :o(

If Australia claw this back it will be thanks to their clean set piece work. And here we go again with some Aussie phases moving down the field. Pocock doing most of the work.

Wales deemed coming in at the side lets Australia kick to touch on the Welsh five. Dangerous lineout here.

Show thread

AUSvWAL Match Thread

Back for the penalty and Australia choose to kick to touch again, clearly confident in their superiority at the lineout. And pick-n-go we go, all over again.

Another penalty, Tipuric in at the side. Into the last quarter and it's all Australia so far. Wales need to stop coughing up penalties to hold on to this lead (and all 15 players).

Australia grind Wales down on the pick and go, another penalty awarded but Hooper and co dance all around the upright and Hoop sneaks the grounding in. Conversion is good. Dylan Lewis is on for Tomos Francis.

Jake Ball off for Shingler. Wales have had to make 160 tackles so far, and that's where the penalties are coming from. Need to clean this up to hold an ever shrinking lead as we move to the last 15 minutes. And sloppy lines leads to another lineout on the 5m.

Ken Owens off for Dee. Physicality is only getting more intense. Scrum Australia on the Welsh 22. Penalty against for their scrum. More set piece letting us down. Australia opt to kick which would bring it down to one point difference. Gulp.

12 minutes to go, one point in it. This is definitely Australia's half. Wales need to get back to business on simple work rate, don't get frustrated. Liam Williams catches a lovely kick and Wales finally have some possession which leads to a penalty. Patchell kicks to touch from halfway. We are now in the Australia 22. Owen Watkin on for Parkes.

Wales have had only 18% possession in this half, but here we are with Rhys Patchell lining up a penalty from Australia's jumping across in the lineout. Surprising to hear boos from the crowd. It's good. Four point lead for Wales now.

Clean strip gives the balls to Wales. Tomos Williams, Dylan Lewis, to Nicky Smith. Liam Williams is grimacing. seven minutes to go and it's a scrum to Wales from a rare error from Australia, forward pass. Roman has a lot of advice for the Welsh front row. A LOT of advice. Of course, this eats up some time so I suppose it's not all bad.

Five minutes to go and Wales win a free kick from the scrum collapsing again. But first, Roman has some more advice. Thanks Roman. And now it's four minutes left.

And it's penalty to Australia on the neverending scrum. Possession goes Gold, four points behind, four minutes to go. Red lineout 15 metres from their own tryline. Looong. Slooow. Lineout. Three minutes left. Wales win the lineout thank the gods.
