Open Call for Panel

Some of you know I have been working on non-profit funding to create an organisation ("IFTAS") to support moderators and admins. This is a non-profit entity that employs moderators and advisors to improve the tools and policies we have access to, and to present a strong voice to platform developers describing the tools and features needed to conduct the work.

@jaz And did you ask people first if they want to invite #gafam (here: via #googleDoc ) to this panel ?
Are there really no #foss / free from #corpo #surveillance tools ( #nextcloud, #cryptpad, etc.) to need google ?
As admin of the #fediverse server, I do not intend to invite them here in any form.

@miklo Thanks for your input!

The invitation was sent in various forms (Signal, Discord, Matrix, Email) to various communities.

As a non-profit entity we have access to free services from Google, so we are also making use of that to some degree.

We are building an open source-driven platform for IFTAS activities, participation will not require a Google or any other big corp account.

An open call for input on FOSS collaboration tools is here toot.wales/@jaz/11019195564289

@jaz
OK I understand that you have plans for an open source platform. Great! But what's the chance , that anyone can read these documents NOW using available opensource tools, free from tracking by big-data ?

You can use for example #cryptpad or #hedgedoc - in both you can collaborate on documents or presentations from several accounts. There are many instances that make these two tools available. Even our f.e. doc.citizen4.eu - self-hosted for our own purposes, but you can use it.

@miklo Thanks for the links, we will review and factor this in to anything going forward👍
