Meet the Flock #2: Brambles. His story to follow. #Defaidodon #SheepOfMastodon
Brambles is one of the sheep rescued by Skippy. One day a couple of years ago Skippy managed to breach the fencing in the bottom field and get into our neighbour's field. At first we thought he'd been looking for the ladies, but as it turns out, when we went to retrieve Skippy the field was empty, but we could hear distressed baaing coming from the edge of the field.
Further inspection revealed that what Skippy had heard was the baaing of a lamb who had become entirely caught up in brambles.
This poor lamb had been left behind when the flock had been moved, and I think if we hadn't found him there might well have died there, so thoroughly was he stuck.
Giles cut him out of the brambles, and the little guy followed us to the edge of the field and watched as we retrieved Skippy and closed the gap in the fence.
Over the next few days we talked about the situation and figured that given we'd saved his life once, perhaps we ought to do the job properly and bring him home.
And so we did; and of course his name was Brambles.
Brambles is a large, fluffy, good-natured sheep with the biggest flappers of anyone in the whole flock (excepting the llama and donkey of course). He has amazing wool, the softest wool out of all of them, and his fleece grows enormous and fluffy by the time Spring comes round. He also enjoys cuddles and it's marvellous to cuddle that big fluffy fleece; like cuddling a cloud.
When he first arrived here he had a slight problem with one of his back legs, and it seemed for a while he might grow up lame; however the problem has entirely gone away as he has grown up and now he is a big, strong, fluffy boy, second in command of the flock. Skippy makes ram noises to him, but he makes ram noises to Panda (of whom more shortly).
In all a fluffy, amiable, easy-going boy who loves to be cuddled.
@llamasoft_ox considering the name and what i know about sheep and brambles, i can almost guess what the story is. :>
