PAVILAND FUTURES. Paviland Futures is a campaign group in Swansea, run by local people, with the aim of raising awareness of the Red Lady of Paviland as an outstanding relic of the Ice Age. The Red Lady was found in a cave in Gower in 1823 and its skeleton, its jewellery made of shells and mysterious ivory wands, now lie in a case in Oxford University Museum, after the Archaeologist William Buckland took them there after his dig in the Gower cave. Swansea didn't have a Museum in 1823, which is one of the reasons Buckland took the remains and all its grave goods so far away from Swansea.
