told me the weather looked good and that it was time to set out the squashes and cukes. He helped me measure out the spacing for each hill of planting and supervised the rest of the planting. We have now set out the Sunburst Squash, Zucchini Elite, and Cuke Marketmore. Everything got watered in and will be covered with my makeshift cloches this evening. Meanwhile the ast. gardener, Dixie is on pest duty while basking in the catnip.

A follow up on the planting of the squashes and cukes. I've got them under make-shift cloches for the next few nights. Cloches are really translucent white plastic totes that I salvaged from one of my former workplaces as they were closing up and moving away. They've been doing duty here as weather protection and veg. hauling for quite a few years now. sat in his supervisor's chair and offered encouragement. We're dun fer the day!

@richrollgardener congrats for your creative cloches.

I don't have access to those nice big totes, so I use the plastic containers spring lettuce mix comes in. They are fairly big, clear, and they last for years.
