#today We've begun harvesting some of the Red Delicious apples. They're good eating apples but don't store very well, so what we don't eat immediately gets peeled, cored, and sliced and baked into apple crisp. This is the first year I can remember having apples ready to harvest this early. We're still picking raspberries. The Baldwins and Granny Smiths will be ready in a few weeks.The Baldwins especially are good keepers.

@richrollgardener Those spiral apples peelers are the best!
@HumToTable @richrollgardener
They're great as long as your apples are of a uniform shape. If the core isn't central there's a lot wasted.
@Sarahw @richrollgardener True. It goes off the rails pretty quickly with the wonky apples.That's when you pivot to apple sauce.
@HumToTable @richrollgardener
Which is also excellent for the freezer.
@HumToTable @Sarahw I give the wonky apples to the neighbors...
@richrollgardener @HumToTable
Good plan. Appears generous, yet canny at the same time
Oh, yay! I'm so excited for apple season
