Our first Corn harvest from last year
I wasn’t sure if it would actually grow properly, but we managed to get a few ear of corn even if they were quite small and were with sparse kernel. Our soil still need more nutrients I think, preparing compost to remedy it for this year
Anyway we can now enjoy popcorns

We appreciate the approval BeetBear looks good too!
@richrollgardener is THE authority for sweetcorn for me, @BlossomLikeFlowers Never had too much success with it until I followed his advice to plant tight groups of 5 plants with these groups in rows.
@feinschmeckergarten @richrollgardener
Thanks Arne, I will follow the rule of 5 How tight approximately should they be?
@BlossomLikeFlowers @feinschmeckergarten Here are some pictures from last summer showing a rough idea of my corn planting. Three rows, each planted 2 weeks apart. Rows a little over 10 meters long. 32 sets of 5 plants per row.
@richrollgardener @feinschmeckergarten
So here we go, I’m following your advices and started the corn seedlings 5 seeds in each pots. I got a mix of seeds, black popcorn, popcorn from last year’s harvest and sweetcorn. Looking forward to see them grow !
@BlossomLikeFlowers @richrollgardener I was just bloom scrolling & thinking of Richard's corn from last year, making plans to ask him again for details - now I have them! If I could ask the distance between the individuals in the 5 plant cluster, & then how far they are from the next cluster. (Or I could do math from your measurements, but please have pity on me.) Lastly, do you have to hand pollinate since you have so many together like this? Thanks in advance, guys.
@LoraHughes @BlossomLikeFlowers Here are some pictures of what I do. Seeds are planted in a 4 inch/110mm pot, evenly spaced (But very close). They are planted out after about two weeks in a warm greenhouse. Distance between clumps is roughly 16in / 40cm. I usually end up with 3 long rows 3ft / 1 meter apart containing something like 500 plants in about 500 ft.² /46m². Never had to hand pollinate. If you only have a few stalks it might be needed.
@richrollgardener Fantastic, Richard. I won't have a patch as big as yours, but this will certainly bump up my crop. I so love my fresh sweet corn.
