Highlight of the week on #TheArchers last night - the choir in the concert at the church singing O little town of Bethlehem, to the tune of the Archers theme. It also works for "There is a green hill far away", and House of the Rising Sun....
@suearcher Haven't got there yet, but yes, Common Metre! (Also ballad metre.) In the Sacred Harp book, those songs are labelled CM to indicate we can swap the words with other CM tunes .

@suearcher I loved it too, though it took me far longer than it should have to realise what tune they were singing!
