Stuck in Minneapolis, because the crew is going “dead by law”. Second time that has happened on this trip, the first time being a direct consequence of the delay due to flooding in Milwaukee.
Stalled at Milwaukee, on the way to @SeattleWorldcon2025 — tracks are washed out ahead, as though in some silent Western serial of 100 years ago. Oh well, at least I can use the station Wi-Fi from my #amtrak sleeper compartment.
I have made it home thx to @SecritLyfe. Internet says train finally arrived 3.5 hours late. It’s not forecast into our original station for another 1/2 hour. I will be asleep by then.
Hope they do something for the NYC lady. They were completely unhelpful to me. #Amtrak
The woman next to us has missed her connection to NYC now. North and South stations in Boston both close overnight, as does the MBTA. She’ll have to get a hotel or walk the streets all night. First train out is 06:30 tomorrow. Way to go #Amtrak.
I’m learning to not rely on #Amtrak’s smaller corridors. This would never be allowed to stand on the #NortheastCorridor or even #EmpireService.
But we’re just one small train of vacationers stuck in Maine. Commerce will continue without us.
Wish they’d give up and send the replacement bus. At least we’d be warm and moving. #Amtrak.
Well #Amtrak is Amtraking again. Supposed to depart half an hour ago; still no train. Automated system has announced boarding for it, and for the later train in the other direction.
It is I, Amtrak!
Kicking you out of the lounge to go stand in line before the boarding gates open!
Your convenience means nothing to me!
Ah ha ha ha!!

Finally rode the Amtrak Surfliner all the way from LA to San Diego. It's a good name, as much of the line is right next to the beach, which was packed on the first Saturday in August.
Also, only 12 min late on 3 hr journey isn't bad for Amtrak (nor certain European state railways). $55 for business class, which includes free beer/wine/snacks is pretty good.

Why the Midwest's Rail Revolution is Unstoppable

“The greatest growth among those lines was a 6.9% increase on the Roanoke route, from 338,125 to 361,420 passengers, awhile the Norfolk route carried the most passengers at 542,743, up 4.7% from the previous year.” https://www.trains.com/trn/news-reviews/news-wire/virginia-state-supported-amtrak-routes-set-ridership-record/ #Virginia #Amtrak #trains #rail
#amtrak actually got me to Chicago early - unusual for north American trains. But to make up for it, they have cancelled my next train. Replacement bus for 7 hours instead.
Amtrak in Jack London Square.
#COVID cases and hospitalizations haven't continued to rise after last week's blip, but they haven't gone down either. About 212 #COVID19 cases and 14 hospitalizations per day, and 20 deaths per month, citywide.
I still #WearAMask in elevators, trains, buses, taxis, supermarkets, doctors' offices, hospitals, pharmacies and nursing homes. CO2 levels are lower in #Amtrak cafe cars, so it's frustrating that they've eliminated cafe cars for several Albany-NYC and NYC-Harrisburg runs!
