Diesel engines are noisy.
If boaters could sign even 20 words, we could communicate with each other.
Perhaps such warnings as:
• Person In Water.
• Unpowered Craft.
• Underwater Obstacle.
• Boat Behind Me (out of view).
• X Feet Clearance (at a bank or lock).
Or such messages as:
• I'm Mooring Here/Now.
• Your Boat Will Fit Here.
• I Want To Pass You.
What phrases would you want every boater to know?

Was chatting to one of my kids tonight about #BSL…they were encouraging me to practice!
Then they mentioned a Paralympic’s video from 2016 which they like called ‘Yes I can!’. There is a small section where someone signs.
This got us wondering if I hadn’t left it too late to start my Paralympic career?! But then we discovered you can’t enter the Paralympics if you are just #Deaf…but there is a separate #Deaflympics!

The #BSL sign for Donald Trump is just hilarious. It’s a kind of flapping toupee gesture made with the hand against the forehead. 
Just started watching #Reunion on BBC iPlayer…it’s a gritty, thriller staring Matthew Gurney, Anne-Marie Duff and Rose Ayling-Ellis.
It’s beautifully directed and acted.
It’s also my first attempt at trying to follow #BSL having taken it up a few weeks ago. I’m grateful for the subtitles! But I’m suprised at how many signs I could already clearly identify

It's absolutely astounding.
I've tried half-heartedly to learn a bit of #signing but this gives me a bit of hope that I'll be able to learn more before my hearing gives out completely!
There needs to be more TV like this.

Fascinating #keynote by Rob Koch at #KubeCon on real-time Sign Language interpretation.
He "talked" in sign language (American Sign Language, ASL), which was real-time translated to both speech and closed captioning. And also to British Sign Language, which uses entirely different gestures. Wow!
And of course, the topic.was on how to automatically recognize sign language. And the challenges involved.

BSL is much more expressive than a hearing aid. More folk should learn it.

It is in development, but it's so exciting to see something entirely free that aims to promote the use, teaching, resources for and profile of British Sign Language.
The website should be fully up and running by the middle of this year. 
Genuinely excited to see how this develops
