Author-ized L.J.<p>My second read-through of The Fifth Season is even better than the first because I'm not rushing through impatient to find out what happens next, plus I'm actually catching some major foreshadowing this second time around. Author-ized L.J.<p>It occurred to me on re-read when I got to the part where Schaffa was aiming the knife at Damaya the whole time while breaking her hand, that this has strong parallels to the Gom Jabbar scene early in the start of Dune--except Jemisin cuts right through the bullcrap of "It's because you're so special and powerful that we want to make sure you're not a threat" and drills right down to the abuse and control. Augury Ignored<p>Might be running a <a href="https://dice.camp/tags/burningwheel" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>burningwheel</span></a> game soon, and I'm thinking of shamelessly ripping off Arx Fatalis and NK Jemisin's <a href="https://dice.camp/tags/brokenearth" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>brokenearth</span></a> novels.
