Google DocsRequest for Proposals: Growing Together - 2025 Seed Savers Exchange Virtual ConferenceSeed Savers Exchange is requesting proposals for Growing Together, the 2025 Seed Savers Exchange Virtual Conference which will be held on Friday, May 2; Friday, June 6; and Friday, July 11. With 2025 being our 50th anniversary, we plan to look at the seed community with a past, present, and future lens. Within each of these categories we aim to highlight seed stories, hear from those with experience and expertise, and also from young people, innovators, and beginners. We encourage people from all backgrounds to submit a proposal and to speak from your own experience. Preference will go towards interactive presentations or presentations that leave us with actionable steps to create a better future. Interactive presentations may include demonstrations, panel discussions, case studies or success stories, Q&A sessions, and more. We are looking for presenters who are available for live presentations on the particular day(s) of the conference as well as pre-recorded sessions to be shared out with attendees.
1. The Past (Friday, May 2, 2025)
Where did we come from? This day of the conference will highlight the foundations and legacies we have built our work on. We hope to receive proposals that will connect through time to traditions and ancestries. What stories have been preserved? What stories have been overlooked and silenced? What ancient wisdom and techniques led us to where we are and sustain our work? We hope to look to the past of the seed community with both a celebratory and critical lens.
2. The Present (Friday, June 6, 2025)
Where are we now? What modern technologies are emerging? What current projects or case studies are regenerating and creating resilience in the seed community? This day of the conference hopes to be a snapshot of what is currently happening in the field. What challenges and successes are you facing in your community, place, and region?
3. The Future (Friday, July 11, 2025)
Where do we go from here? This day of the conference will anticipate the future of the seed community and how we are engaging future generations in this work. What possibilities can we envision? How are we mentoring those coming up behind us? How are we forming resilient practices in the face of a changing climate to prepare us for the days ahead? We hope to look ahead with hope and concrete actions to bring us to the future we want to thrive in.
Submission Guidelines:
Please use the provided form for each proposal you submit.
Propose multiple topics and formats as desired, filling out a new form for each.
If your proposal doesn't fit into the defined categories, still feel free to submit it. We'll keep it for future consideration if it doesn’t align with this conference.
Diversity and Inclusivity:
We strongly encourage applications from diverse backgrounds, embracing various dimensions like race, ethnicity, language, geographic location, age, ability, gender, sexual orientation, socioeconomic status, and lived experiences.
Documentation for Indigenous Voices:
In an effort to prevent perpetuating the colonial violence of falsifying Indigeneity, we ask anyone claiming tribal affiliation in the United States or Canada, or speaking on behalf of these Indigenous communities, to provide documentation of your identified community claiming you. Documentation can be in the form of tribal ID (scan front and back), letter from tribal government, Canadian Indian Status Card, or CDIB.
Proposal Submission Details:
Deadline for submissions: January 17, 2025.
Response notifications: By February 29, 2025.
We eagerly anticipate your submissions and the opportunity to collaborate in shaping an enriching conference experience.
