My pick for #BlackMetalMonday is not new, but it is so good. This album is a masterpiece of conveying sorrow and despair, while the opening track sets the tone in the best (worst?) way possible. That opening howl of pain and sorrow, I love it.

🎶 Altid Veltilfreds

An album about the pain of the working class suffering under the boot of oppression. Danish Afsky puts this concept to music in the most convincing way.

My son just invented a word:

‘næstfødselsdagsbarn’ n. (Danish) the person, whose birthday is tomorrow.

It is built on ‘fødsels·dags·barn’ (i.e. ‘birth·day child’) with the prefix ‘næst-’ (i.e. ‘second-’ as in ‘næst·bedst’, ‘second-best’). This prefix is almost exclusively used with superlative adjectives, but historically, it was used with some kinship nouns like ‘næst·søskende·barn’ (literally ‘next sibling child’, so ‘second cousin’).

He turns 7.

Overheard a #Danish pronunciation issue in real time. Child wanted to describe one of her skills as being a good friend - "god ven". Her mom said that she could just write "god ven", pronouncing "god" as [goðˀ] with a very clear soft d. The child seemingly corrected her, saying [goʔo], with no soft d, but realizing the stød with this kind of double-syllabification. They repeated their pronunciations back and forth, and then the child went on to write "go", not "god" as the orthography wants it.

#Denmark to provide European-produced #satellite communication services to Ukraine’s military

“Denmark has now contributed to strengthening #Ukraine's #satellite-based #communications in their #defense against #Russia. There is a very large potential in space-based solutions that can contribute to both #Ukrainian, #Danish, and #European defense,” Danish Defense Minister Troels Lund Poulsen said.

Did you know that the 18th c. #Danish court had delicate problems?

Sophia of #Denmark married Gustav III of #Sweden when she was 20. It took 9 years to consummate their marriage.

The #king had asked the master of the horse, #Finn Adolf Munck, for sex ed. Munck was to stay close to the bedchamber to assist. His help was soon needed by both parties.

When Sophia fell pregnant, all of Stockholm was atwitter.

If Gustav IV was indeed #illegitimate remains unknown.

"Torn" is a song written by #ScottCutler, #AnnePreven—who composed all of the lyrics—and #PhilThornalley in 1991 as a solo song for Preven. It was recorded and performed live during this period, but not given its first formal release until 1993, when #Danish singer #LisSørensen released the song in Danish under the title "Brændt" ([pʁænˀt], meaning 'burnt'). Cutler and Preven formed an #alternativeRock band, #Ednaswap, in 1993.
