At least 15 years since this laptop made this sound!

The Windows XP setup music! Not just the first time it's coming out of this laptop since 2004, but possibly the first time ever (at least in the outside world), because it was pre-installed when I had it.
Possibly the fastest #WindowsXP installation of my life! Yes, it's a #Kingston #mSATA drive, so from a reputable brand...SSDs are fast...but still had to operate through an #SSD to #IDE converter and 2004 hardware, so was not expecting it to be this fast!
Managed to yeet a crucial hinge screw...you know...not any of the screws I could have gotten away with not putting back in...bleep...bleep bleep...(don't worry, I found it later!)
Yup, this defo isn't JayzTwoCents, or Linus Tech Tips, or This Does Not Compute, or Techmoan, or any of the channels I watch a lot on YouTube but clearly learned nothing from, on how to carefully disassemble tech...I was losing screws left right and centre, despite my Poundstretcher nested tubs!
After taking apart more of my HP Pavilion ze4800 laptop than I wanted to, finally got to the CPU. And this is what I saw.
At first, I panicked the old thermal paste had pulled off bits of the die, but after microscopic examination, it was a layer of black on top of the pink die.
Ordered two parts to revive my old uni laptop! Both said 2-day delivery. One took two days...the other...five days in, still waiting. It would be less frustrating to have none of it, than to have half of what I need but not the other half!
Talking of laptops that got people through their student days (see my previous posts about the Mac Powerbook Duo), this is the one I had in uni the first time around.
Hard drive is as a dodo, but impressed it did anything (and HDD can be replaced with flash). PSU works fine!
