Tîm Tŵt Staff<p>As the user reported the DM to us (diolch 👍🏻) we were able to suspend the spam account</p><p>The spammer also managed to approach one of our mods via DM which was a quite an amusing choice of target 😂</p><p>If you get DMs like this - or anything that makes you feel uncomfortable, please report it</p><p>Unfortunately you can’t attach a DM to a report - so if you want to provide evidence, take a screenshot & DM it to <span class="h-card" translate="no"><a href="https://toot.wales/@teamtoot" class="u-url mention">@<span>teamtoot</span></a></span> so our mods can see it. Tîm Tŵt Staff<p>Yesterday we had two new accounts set up. </p><p>They displayed some suspicious characteristics when created - but it wasn’t anything serious so we decided to keep an eye on them and see what happened. </p><p>Later that day one of our users reported that one of the new accounts had been sending Direct Messages (DMs) offering *certain types of services*. </p><p>It had the fingerprints of the beginnings of a Sextortion (<a href="https://inews.co.uk/inews-lifestyle/reports-sextortion-soaring-uk-how-to-stay-safe-1704431" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" translate="no"><span class="invisible">https://</span><span class="ellipsis">inews.co.uk/inews-lifestyle/re</span><span class="invisible">ports-sextortion-soaring-uk-how-to-stay-safe-1704431</span></a>) scam. </p><p><a href="https://toot.wales/tags/KeepT%C5%B5tTidy" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>KeepTŵtTidy</span></a></p><p>(1/2)</p>
