Kneecap lambast Viktor Orbán over ‘outrageous’ ban from Hungary: theguardian.com/music/2025/jul

'Responding in a post on X, the group said: “To the tens of thousands of fans who we were buzzing to see in person at Sziget, we’re sorry we won’t be with you. The authoritarian government of Viktor Orban say we ‘pose a national security threat.’ Which is fucking outrageous coming from a man who welcomed Netanyahu, a wanted war criminal, like a hero just a few weeks ago.

“There is no legal basis for his actions, no member of Kneecap has ever been convicted of any crime in any country. We stand against all hate crimes and Kneecap champions love and solidarity as well as calling out injustices where we see it. It’s clear this is political distraction and a further attempt to silence those who call out genocide against the Palestinian people.”'

Hungary bans the Irish pro-Palestinian band Kneecap.

The Hungarian government has banned the Irish rap group from entering the country, citing “antisemitic hate speech and open praise for Hamas and Hezbollah,” a government spokesperson said Thursday.

The band was set to perform at the major Sziget Festival in Budapest on 11 August.

U.K. police say that no further action will be taken against the Northern Irish band Kneecap over remarks made during their performance at the Glastonbury music festival. Avon and Somerset Police had launched a criminal investigation into the Irish language rap trio after they referenced band member Liam Óg Ó hAnnaidh's upcoming court case. After advice from the U.K.'s Crown Prosecution Service, police decided to drop the investigation on the grounds that there was "insufficient evidence to provide a realistic prospect of conviction for any offence." The band has faced huge criticism for their pro-Palestine stance. Here's more from @BBCNews.

@SusiArnott YES!!!

Fuck you starmer, you and your cabinet are all complicit in supporting genocide.

I refuse to refer to them as The Labour Party any longer, and they will never get my vote again.

Anyone remember the film, 'None of the Above'? We should have that voting option included on all voting slips 🤔, lol!

Ps. Hey keir, today, #kneecap has been totally cleared, so fuck you x2, lol!
