BeaDie Eier des, als gefährdet eingestuften, Kuckucks sind in ihrer Farbe und Größe variabel. Sie richten sich nach dem Aussehen der Eier der Wirtsvögel. Ein Weibchen legt bis zu 25 Eier, davon je eins, selten auch zwei, in ein fremdes Nest. Ein Ei der Wirtseltern wird dafür vorher aus dem Nest gestoßen oder gefressen. Die Kuckucksweibchen bevorzugen Grasmücken und Rohrsänger als Wirtseltern.<br>
