Just got home from a Commander Game Night with friends!

It was more fun than the last time; I think having a strict power level limitation helped a lot...

I'm still not a fan of how long turns take though, 5m play / 15m wait is much worse than 3m play / 3m wait...

I played my very first Magic: The Gathering game yesterday. I played in the Commander format, and I used a pre-constructed Doctor Who deck.

Managed to clear all the accumulated cards from drafts and such over the last couple o` months and re-config a few commander decks today, so here's my moxfield if you're into commander decks and that sorta thing:

My favorite part of the new tiered #commander system is that, given the play style and the intended play experience of my decks, I am told to ignore all the new rules and card restrictions. Which further solidifies my opinion that the purest, most natural way to play the format is what is now called bracket 4.

Getting ready to head out to Friday Night Magic, and I can’t decide what Commander decks to take.

Probably going to go with Dinos, Slivers, Treasures. But maybe something new?

I do find organizing things to be a dopamine hit

- helped run a conference for 5 years
- running a #mtgcommander night weekly for 6 years and counting
- cube nights with my own cube
- keeping the board game group going for 10+ years

Honestly it’s all been like this:

1) I want to do something
2) nobody is doing what I want to do
3) guess I am running it now

Went to Friday Night Magic today. Partly to have silly fun playing my favourite decks, partly to gossip about the rules changes.

to elaborate on my position regarding #commander #mtgcommander being under the controll of wizards, i know products like precons have done a lot to grow the format, but i have been uncofortable with the format being entangled with wizards since i was first aware of it. i dont think its reasonable to call the rules commitee as it existed up untill now fully independant from wizards, and we have seen that cause issues, such as with companions.

i dont know how to feel about the #MTGCommander #mtg #commander announcement, transfering controll to the rules commitee.
i realy dont like wizards having control of the format, but then again the format isnt like a physical thing, they only have the ability to provide a ruleset. we dont have to follow that ruleset. This could be a cool opportunity to establish a variant, where we can do things that the rules commitee didnt, like ban sol ring

There is no reason that people should be threatened for banning a piece of cardboard. There are some people with anger issues who have enabled a corporate takeover of a Magic format, which was mostly independent
