Driving in the mountain wonderland

Yeah, mountains are part of driving longer stretches in Norway. You can take the long road following the coastline or cross over the mountains.
In late winter, in April and with good weather, the mountains are fastest. And prettiest.
Of course, snow removal when the snow layer is 2 meters thick or more means you must stop your car and climb up to get a view of the mountains. Or have a look down at the main road on the right here.
You do not stay there long. When the base temperature is minus 22 degrees Centigrade, any windy breeze makes the real temperature even colder.
The heaters in the cars sold here is made to handle it. I remember one time my first car, a Datsun, had a car heater that nearly did not. It was December, and minus 34 degrees outside.
Going outside when it is that cold, every nerve in your skin and breathing system cries out: "Seriously?" "This is not real!" "Get inside, you maniac" "Cold. So cold. Freezing cold. Unbelievable cold!"
Hot food and coffee never taste better than after a walk in the cold. Even a short one.
But it is worth visit Norwegian mountains under snow.

Just a short note...

About the #Roadtrip.

City people can't drive.

They really can't.

There were 3 major crashes on the freeway running north out of Sydney today.

I am constantly underwhelmed by the thought processes of some drivers on public holidays.

This season is coming to an end and so our little camp will do this Saturday. When we leave, this site is being shut down until March as fishing season is being superseded by late Autumn and Winter. Until then, the change of seasons (and weather) is still something that amazes you each morning when waking up despite of the current weather conditions.

On the way driving back from Minneapolis, I stopped in Cashton, Wisconsin to get cheese. My friend Tori in Minneapolis recommended this place that she went to as a kid in Wisconsin.

Deep in Amish country, the roads were all lumpy with horse drawn plows with 8 belgian draft horses per plow, and folks walking from rural house to house. It was neat to see that part of Wisconsin- way off of any highways or any public transit.

Tori and I are cheese buddies- and Tori did not disappoint! Those curds were made fresh that morning- not even refrigerated- and they were SO squeaky! With every touch on the tooth they would squeak squeak squeak!

The fried curds were delectable! The cheese was bountiful and inexpensive (compared to NYC prices). @alifeeney and I have cheese for at least a few weeks now ;)

Au revoir 🇫🇷 #France! 👋

The 🚐 performed well; 👥 performance was acceptable. We got to test axillary solar harvesting kit & sun sail for awning. Some minor adjustments to our gear list.

Soon will again depart Germany for longer #overland away mission from the Adriatic to Aegean Sea, transiting #Austria to explore #Slovenia, #Croatia, #BosniaAndHerzegovina, #Montenegro, #Albania, northern #Greece, #NorthMacedonia, #Kosovo & #Serbia.

Any tips for our #roadtrip?

My oh my, The Mind Benders class I taught at FOCI wrapped up last night and what a wonderful whirlwind! I had the most amazing students who time and time again, were so hungry for knowledge, and wanted to learn more and more.
We learned to bend neon, make digital vector patterns, blink the neon with programmable microcontrollers and I even showed them how they could work with a glassblower to pull their own tubes.

My TA, @dinkytown was incredible- typically fulfilling the class's needs before I even asked her. I am thrilled that she learned a bunch in the class.
It was able to train two FOCI staff members to bombard (the dangerous process of purifying and putting gas in the tubes)- so now FOCI neon renters can get their tubes filled quicker.
The artist talk and demo I gave was well attended, and now FOCI has the doodle I made during the demo in their permanent collection.
