Some zooms into my 2023 Western Interior Seaway illustration, from DINOSAUR BEHAVIOUR, by Prof Michael Benton (published by Princeton University Press). It features an Edmontosaurus carcass attracting attention from birds, pterosaurs, bony fish, sharks, marine reptiles, and ammonites.
Other insectivorous species may be in trouble as pollinator populations fall. We cannot simply replace bees and other pollinators with robots.

A piece for Manufactured Ecosystems about the future of pollination about who decides what gets pollinated if humans and our devices are the only pollinators.
The definition of “weed” is usually pretty arbitrary and usually all sorts of native plants get caught up in our human biases. Milkweed is insanely popular with the pollinators in my garden and the host plant of the monarch butterfly. 1/2
So I have been looking at vintage art to use as reference, and to help me try something new (in terms of the final result, media)
Here's an Indian Golden Oriole that I sketched with colour pencil, and then used black ink.

For the Manufactured Ecosystems art show about the future of pollination I have been looking at what nature-inspired technologies exist or are already proposed or that I could envision to pollinate plants, faced with a precipitous drop in pollinator numbers. But, I am also turning an artist’s eye to larger implications. 1/n

Here's my Lark Quarry trackway (Australia) illustration from DINOSAUR BEHAVIOUR, by Prof Michael Benton (published by @princetonupress). Featured is an angry Muttaburrasaurus scattering a group of theropods (an interpretation of the hundreds of fossilised footprints).
I'm so happy with how these new prints turned out! This might be my favorite, from this batch. To create these, I scanned my hand-drawn pieces and then printed on fine art paper. All done locally, here in San Francisco.
