Chris<p><strong>Possible move from self-hosted</strong></p><p>I'm thinking of moving from self hosting. It was fun setting it up, but now it's running it's more routine. I haven't decided firmly yet, but I am thinking about where I might go. This is my thought.</p><p>## A UK based service</p><p>Something like mastodonapp.uk would have a relevant local feed, good user base for hash search, and local reach for posts. The downside is that some sites might block it due to the online safety act, even though this is unnecessary unless they either target UK users or have a significant number of UK users - in which case they are subject to the act whether or not they federate UK servers!</p><p>## A topic based server</p><p>I've been thinking about maybe mastodon.green. It has a low monthly charge, just under half what I'm paying for server hosting, though for a couple of £ a month I'd probably keep a VPS anyway. They also plant trees with part of your subscription 🌳</p><p>## Another Mitra based server</p><p>I like Mitra, it's lightweight and performant and I'm used to the interface. There are a few publicly open instances like wizard.casa and I could go back there. It is where I tried before installing</p><p>## Stay self hosted</p><p>This is always an option and what I'll do until I decide what to do.</p><p>Any suggestions?</p><p><a class="hashtag" href="https://mitra.northumbria.me/collections/tags/selfhosted" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#SelfHosted</a> <a class="hashtag" href="https://mitra.northumbria.me/collections/tags/mastodongreen" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#MastodonGreen</a> <a class="hashtag" href="https://mitra.northumbria.me/collections/tags/mastodonappuk" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#MastodonAppUK</a> <a class="hashtag" href="https://mitra.northumbria.me/collections/tags/fediverse" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#Fediverse</a> <a class="hashtag" href="https://mitra.northumbria.me/collections/tags/servers" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#Servers</a> <a class="hashtag" href="https://mitra.northumbria.me/collections/tags/mastodon" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#Mastodon</a> <a class="hashtag" href="https://mitra.northumbria.me/collections/tags/pleroma" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#Pleroma</a> #</p>

However unfortunately it ran out of disk space. I really need to get round to putting images on a separate volume as these are the ones that run out, and unfortunately after reducing old images it was not working, probably database corruption due to no space.
