Our wait is now up to an hour.
We are here every month so if you'd prefer not to wait, you can plan to bring your item to us on Saturday 6th September instead.
We're ready for you! Our team of fabulous volunteers are here at Barry library until 1pm fixing your broken items for free.
What are you bringing for us this month?
Our next repair cafe is this Saturday so spread the word! We fix your items for free to help save items from landfill and save you money!
The Richard's did a great job fixing two lawnmowers at our July cafe.
If you've been busy in the garden and discovered that something isn't working, why not bring it along to our next repair cafe on Saturday 2nd August from 10am until 1pm.
Please note we do not fix items for businesses - we are a volunteer group who repair items for individuals for free.
We’re looking for volunteers!
If you have skills in fixing items, or want to learn how to, we’d love to have you join us. And if hands on stuff like that isn’t your area of expertise, we can find things for you to do; helping with drinks, setting up and packing down, translating our posts into Welsh, taking photos, or meeting and greeting.
Whatever your skill set, we’d love to have you as part of the team. Let us know if you’re interested.
Really long shot but does anyone in our around Barry (Vale of Glamorgan) have a copy of #Daggerheart that they would be comfortable lending to me for a games munch on Sat 19th July?
If not I'm gonna see if the DM can make it work from the downloadable stuff from the DH website but thought it was worth an ask.
We're all set for you tomorrow. We open at 10am and will be fixing your items for free until 1pm.
Remember that you don't have to have a broken item to come and join us, you're more than welcome to come along to socialise - or volunteer!
Jo and Kev who run Barry Repair Café are taking a well deserved holiday in July so @Uselessgeneration and @alexisbushnell are taking over, for one month only!
We ask for a little extra patience on Saturday 5th July as they do their best to step into some very big shoes.
Our other Kevin is taking over as lead repairer for the month too, so all our fixers will have someone to go to with any technical issues.
See you tomorrow!
We especially love seeing families come in to our repair café - and seeing the children get involved with the repair process! It's often fascinating for them to discover how things work and be part of fixing it.
The library also has a wonderful children's section if they get bored of waiting, and we often have cakes and biscuits available for kids of all ages!
Our next repair café is this Saturday, 5th July from 10am until 1pm.
Swap Siop! Barry’s Big Clothes Swap is Back
When: Sunday 22 June, 12–2pm.
Where: Eto Preloved Kids Store, 83 Holton Road, Barry CF63 4HG.
Cost: £5 per adult (kids welcome to tag along for free)
Tickets £5: https://awesome.wales/events/
Dig out those wardrobe wonders you’re no longer wearing and give them a new lease of life! It’s time for our summer Swap Siop – a fun, friendly clothes swap for grown-ups (because the kids shouldn’t get all the preloved goodies).
We are well stocked with a variety of cake both homemade and store bought today.
Remember that you are welcome to join us at the repair cafe even if you don't have something to fix. Come for a chat and to socialise.
We're set up and ready for you to join us from 10 am until 1pm at Barry library.
Will you be braving the weather to see us?
Team work is at the core of our repair café. Our volunteers often share knowledge, borrow tools, and ask for second opinions. This is part of the magic of community efforts like ours - if one of us isn't sure or can't fix it, someone else might be able to.
We're looking to add to this wonderful team too, so if you want to share your skills as a fixer or get involved with us in some other way, let us know.
We have some delicious cupcakes for you today thanks to Ann!
Remember that you're welcome to come along just to socialise.
We're ready for you at Barry library! We start at 10am so come along with your broken items and we'll do our best to fix them.
Not sure if we can fix it, remember the golden rule: "If you can get it through the doors and it's not a microwave, we'll give it a go!"
We're looking for volunteers again, so if you're handy with a screwdriver, get in touch!
Whatever your skill set, we can find you something to do, but we're especially in need of more repairers.
Maybe you worked in a profession which built up skills with electricals, analogue fixings or sewing, or you're just a passionate DIYer who's learned a lot by doing over the years, we need you.
During our January café Molly was able to return this 80 year old doll, now good as new, to her very happy owner.
Didn't Molly do an amazing job.
Our next repair café will be Saturday 3rd May if you have something that needs some TLC.
What did you think of our new layout at the February & March repair cafés?
Barry Library kindly allowed us to expand a little but we want to hear what you thought:
How did you find the new layout?
What did you like?
What didn't you like?
Our repair café is for the community so your feedback matters.
