Q*Bert. One of my top #arcade game of the 80s. The machine was powered by a 6502, a Votrax speech synth and even had a pinball knocker. Gottlieb managed to sell over 25,000 units. It was natural that ports to consoles would appear on the market. In January 1984, you could get it for the #Atari 2600, 5200, 400/600/800, the #intellivision, the #colecovision and the #Commodore Vic 20 and 64. It also got ported to the #phillips #videopac, the #othello #multivision & the #nintendo NES. #retrogaming

In the 1970s, developers hadn't quite figured out how to translate golf into a video game yet. Philips' version on the #Videopac 7000 is one of the earliest renditions, putting aside the amazing Flats/Golf on the PLATO system and some text-only games. It's a plausible attempt, with simple but (mostly) effective controls. Hold fire to power up your clockwise backswing, then release.

#Atari must have approved, as they pretty much copied it for their Golf (1980).

Just as I thought it was safe to leave the 1970s...

... Videopac Collection 1 is out on Steam: store.steampowered.com/app/219. 10 games from the Philips #Videopac 7000 AKA the #Magnavox #Odyssey2 (!)

Presumably there are only 10 games because they want you to buy Videopac Collection 2 when it comes out. (Which I probably will. *sigh*.)

Anyway, here's Air-Sea War, which looks suspiciously like the bomber games on #Atari2600 Air-Sea Battle.
