"A novel lithium-ion battery that uses silicon in its anodes may have the highest energy density of any battery currently commercially available. Its manufacturer, Enovix, says it has shipped the new battery to a leading smartphone company for a debut in mobile phones later this year."

Sodium-based batteries are about to take over the market. Finally. It's way more cost-effective, efficient and sodium is more abundant. The batteries are safer and their longevity is also better.
On a side-note: governments have less and less excuses to not integrate power-storage into their respective grids (I see you, Belgium).

Stop worrying about mineral shortage. #China is shuttering factories because of lack of demand for #solar #wind #batteries #EVs Instead of lighting cash on fire (#genai #fossilfuels) use that to help folks buy #clean #energy all over the world. We have a LONG way to go before those minerals come up short. Sheesh...

Hey #Electronics #Batteries

So I'm a bit unclear on something with a #18650 #BMS - specifically, a 3s6p 12v battery pack with integrated BMS, that arrived with two pairs of Red/Black wires coming out of it, one with a barrel jack and the other just wires, and zero explanation, this is clearly an "obvious" situation to people with the slightest bit of experience.

Have also ordered an appropriate 12.6v charger, once I sorted out what was required there. Waiting for it to arrive, have not used the battery pack yet. This is intended for a Pi5 with a HifiBerry amp in a "Ghetto Blaster" type configuration, for use during yard work and other mobile audio needs.

What I'm wondering is, if I've got it running on batteries, and I plug the charger in, is that safe? Will it recharge the batteries while continuing to supply power to the device in a smooth fashion? Or do I need to acquire another UPS-type board to add to the innards?

There are four solar panels feeding the IT battery system, which has cancelled the entire house load (even the antifa torrent server is running on this!). Meanwhile the other panels are blasting my utility meter backwards and building a credit for winter 😆
