A little bit of Christmas cheer to brighten up your timeline. My photographic piece "Yuletide Thicket".
Really excited after 8 years in this current house for my little #OsageOrange #trees to have produced their first fruits! So far, 6 of these grapefruit-sized beauties have fallen off these trees.
It's such a sacred tree to native peoples from this part of the world – the most prized for #bows – and the distribution probably influenced by human trade and planting. Otherwise it's fascinating for its rot-resistant wood, and that #GroundSloths probably loved these fruits.

The oldest yet known physical examples of early hunting #bows actually date as far back as #Mesolithic Denmark, where at #Holmegaard the remains of five such bows, dating to c. 7000 BC, have been found:

Me - an #Introduction
I’ve worked about 25 years as a #NetworkEngineer in UK Higher Education, still no CCNA. Now with added #CyberSecurity worries. Busy imposing #IPv6 on everyone I can. Learning not to #Catastrophize so much these days.
I enjoy shooting things, be it #Archery or #Photography and tinkering with #Electronics. Got my intermediate #AmateurRadio license, but haven’t done a lot with it yet - 2E1MHB / M7MHB.
I have a slight tendency to amass #Retrocomputing stuff, much to the bemusement of my wife (“Why is there a RML 380Z in the hallway?!? Because I have the other one in the study and there isn’t room for two.”).
Happy #FreeBSD user, yet don’t possess sandals or a beard.
I’ve done quite a bit of #Genealogy over the years. Found out why some of my ancestors suddenly disappeared off to Oz.
If pressed, I may admit to liking #Trains.
Running this server on #Pleroma. Would have been quick and easy to set up if I hadn’t decided to re-architect the home network first and migrate from VMware to #Proxmox. Why do things the simple way…?

I’m Lesley, from Chicago. Now an immigrant in Melbourne. I have been doing #infosec for quite a while now. I focus on #dfir for #ics and critical infrastructure. Outside work I do lots of stuff. I’m really into #martialarts even though I’ll never be super good. I have two fourth degree black belts in #TangSooDo and #taekwondo. I also study #arnis and Kung Fu. I coach middle schoolers. I also love #gaming, especially a #mmorpg. I watch lots of geeky movies and #cosplay at cons even though I’m ancient. I’m a goof. I also shoot #bows and #pistols competitively. I love a good gin martini. I can chat about almost anything.
I retired from the #USAF reserves in 2021 after an interesting career seeing a lot of the world.
I am publicly 
#NonBinary and #asexual. I prefer they/them pronouns for that reason, but I don’t get upset when people accidentally mess it up. Gender is silly, and I prefer to not participate in gender roles! I never married or had kids for that reason, but people are great and I have lots of awesome pals to have adventures with. 
I care deeply about #humanrights and #socialjustice. I am a proud #atheist and #humanist. It’s integral to who I am. I care about people today and future generations being well and safe. I’ll get mad for you, because I care.
