“The Point” — Four tourists looking up, Bruges.

This is one of those “shoot fast” street photography images that I sometimes like while traveling. It happened so quickly that I barely remember the act of making the photo. My recollection is that we were walking along a street in Bruges, Belgium when I spotted this group and fired off a frame. I think there might be several ways to “see” this image…continues: gdanmitchell.com/2025/06/26/th

For what was our third visit to Belgium in 2017 we opted simply to take the bus from the port into Bruges and spend some free time wandering around, given that we'd taken organised excursions on the previous two trips. We ended up popping into the torture museum - we like a museum - and buying some soap - we like soap - and drinking beer - we like beer - and taking some photos of the medieval city and its canals, of course.

We had a trip to beautiful #Bruges at the end of March, travelling from King's Lynn to the city centre by the modern wonder of the railway. I'll only whinge slightly about the fact that about 40% of the travel cost was in getting to London...

Our 'aparthotel' had four #EV chargers in the car park, which got me thinking. By my calculations, I could go from home in NW Norfolk to Bruges without recharging our #Ioniq5 and arriving with around 30 miles in the tank, at a total cost of £3.86 in electricity, based on my actual costs this month so far.

We could fill up at the accommodation's 7kW chargers some time during our stay, cheaper by far than motorway ultrafast chargers, and reach home again without another stop (ignoring our respective bladders!). Channel tunnel would add £94 each way for car and passengers.

Sounds like a plan!
