For 2 decades, #cable #news & progressive opinion has been defined by 5 capital letters: MSNBC.

As part of a #corporate spinoff from #Comcast, MSNBC is changing its name to “My Source News Opinion World”, or MS NOW, for short. The name is meant to reflect the channel’s mission to provide “breaking news & best-in-class opinion journalism,”MSNBC president Rebecca Kutler said.

The tax benefits may have come in handy in recent years as #SpaceX’s finances have improved, at least by one measure. The company has privately said its earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation & amortization nearly doubled to roughly $5B last year from 2023. That figure, known as #EBITDA, is one way of measuring #corporate #profits but is not the same as the bottom line & does not mean that SpaceX is paying #taxes.

Larger #tech companies—including some that have taken advantage of the #tax benefit—often pay billions in federal income taxes. #Microsoft, for one, said it expected to pay $14.1B in federal income #taxes in its last fiscal year.

#SpaceX can use the tax benefit even if its business thrives. By one measure of #corporate profitability, the company had roughly $5B in earnings from its core operations last year, up from $2.6B in 2023, acc/to what the company has privately told stakeholders.

They layoffs camd a week after F5 reported financial results for April through June. THE COMPANY BEAT ANALYSTS’ ESTIMATES, reporting $780M in revenue with $190 million in profit.

The cuts hit the Seattle-based company’s product teams to “better align resources with important customer needs,” a spokesperson said.

That's according to a person with knowledge of plans by Vectus Global, a company that provides logistics, infrastructure, security and defense. It’s run by Prince, a major donor to U.S. President Donald Trump who previously founded the controversial security firm Blackwater.
