I like that Dartmouth Hitchock is still recommending vaccines for pregnant women, but you should know that none of their OB/GYN providers that I have ever seen wear masks at work. As a matter of fact I haven’t seen a mask on a staff member in years. So this seems like a real good example of virtue signaling. I didn’t finish reading this article so I’m not sure if it even acknowledges that the vaccines don’t stop infections. But at least they acknowledge that getting Covid while pregnant is bad for you.

From the link:

“‘COVID-19 is still spreading in our communities,’ says Jennifer A. McCoy, MD, a Maternal Fetal Medicine specialist at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center.
If you’re pregnant, the COVID-19 vaccine will not only help prevent you from getting seriously ill, but it can help protect your baby, too, she says. And pregnant people are more likely to get seriously ill from the virus, she adds, which can mean you end up in the hospital or intensive care unit.
‘COVID can also lead to death and getting severe COVID during pregnancy can increase complications such as preterm birth and still birth,’ she says.”

"Long COVID is the largest mass disabling event in human history, and it is still ongoing. If you have had COVID-19 once, your risk of getting cancer increases. Each time you get COVID, every system in your body is wrecked more and more, and your chances of getting long COVID increase dramatically."

Hello, it’s the weekly #washingtonstate #kingcounty (that is, #seattle and environs) #COVID #COVID19 #wastewater toots.

A quick reminder that this King County respiratory disease data comes from Washington State, not the federal government.

Let's start with the West Point (WSPT) sewage treatment plant ... which is terrible, yikes. The 7-Day running average of the Sars-CoV-2 levels is as high as its been since the state switched data providers in fall of 2024. Last data is from 8/5. (Lately, I've been mentioning the wastewater variant breakdown for all three sites, but it looks like it hasn't been updated lately.)

WSPT is one of three King County(-ish) sewersheds in this dataset. You can find overviews, individual sewershed results, and a breakdown of variants for the state wastewater surveillance program, along with other metrics like case counts and hospitalizations for Covid-19 and other respiratory illnesses, at doh.wa.gov/data-and-statistica. If you go to the page and click "learn more" in the statewide view tab, you can find out lots of details about how these data are calculated and how to interpret them. The dashboard gets updated every Wednesday (generally). New! the Department of Health is here on the fediweb, at @WADeptHealth

Are you part of the half of American parents who aren’t sure if federal health agencies recommend #covid shots for healthy kids this fall?

With mixed messages from the FDA, CDC and HHS, a pediatrician we spoke with writes: skip the confusion and talk to your doctor to make the best decision.

So I'm sitting here thinking about the term "the before times" and how I use that to reference pre-Covid.

But before #Covid, the before times was pre-9/11(2001)

So I was getting ready to toot:

"Age is not how many years you've been alive, but how many 'before times' you've survived" ~Me

Then I realized a case could be made for 1980 being the 'before time' prior to 9/11

THEN my brain went all astrological, because Jupiter conjoins Saturn every 20 years, 🤔
