I've been using it daily for almost four years, and it's something we did as a family. It really feels like losing a friend.</p>

Helen<p>Only 4 more days until I wave goodbye to <a href="https://beige.party/tags/Duolingo" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Duolingo</span></a> and today it's decided to give me a "score" for Italian. </p><p>60.</p><p>That's right! I'm a level 60!</p><p>Out of what? Who knows!<br>What's it scored on? Not a lot!<br>Why bother? Secret reasons!</p><p>It says it's based on CEFR. It says it's out of 120 (or maybe 160). But I've finished the entire course and it suggests I can go up to level 61 somehow... Either I've finished the course and learnt everything it has to "teach" me, or this entire thing is made up.</p><p>I'm not going to miss this app in the slightest.</p>

Chris Merle<p>I had planned to quit <a href="https://mstdn.social/tags/Duolingo" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Duolingo</span></a> on day 2001 of my streak. It’s arbitrary. I have had a lot of streak freezes, so it doesn’t really count. I did make it past day 1000 of a genuine streak. Duolingo has made a lot of changes since I started and changing the hearts to charges is the latest thing after going all in on AI. So I’m glad I’m stopping now. I may come back to it later but now I’m going cold turkey and breaking my “streak”.</p>

After trying for a LONG time to upsell me on their LLM “max” plan, Duolingo has:<br>1. Switched on Max for us for a 3 day trial, with no action on my part and no way to opt out.<br>2. Notified the people in my family that *I* have upgraded to try it out.<br>WTF, just WTF.</p>

Kai<p>Sometimes I'm annoyed by Duolingo's speaking exercises, because it just doesn't seem to work. Then I stop and listen to the audio reference and it turns out, I mispronounced.
