The 32nd report from the #HS2 Independent Construction Commissioner (ICC), covering October to December 2024, highlights steady complaint levels, mainly concerning noise, traffic, lighting, and site management. The ICC received 39 case approaches, with one full investigation under the Small Claims Scheme. Of 32 new claims, nine were settled. Total payments under the scheme now stand at £88,525. The Commissioner addressed local concerns in Wendover over construction access, uncertainty at #Euston, and paused works in #Camden. Progress was noted at Old Oak Common and Colne Valley. The ICC urged HS2 Ltd to improve mitigation for light pollution and welcomed progress on a long-awaited Prolonged Disruption Compensation Scheme. With this final report, the Commissioner reflected on visible project progress and ongoing challenges, urging sensitivity and timely decision-making to reduce disruption and maintain public confidence in the scheme.

GOV.UKHS2 Construction Commissioner's report 32The thirty-second in a series of regular progress reports from the High Speed Two (HS2) Independent Construction Commissioner.

The #Metpol #officers /were/ brave and evacuated the #hostel residents in #Euston #London from the #fire - but I'm also wondering why they were first on scene before #LFB - and why the Asian officer is in plain clothes other than hi-vis, his face is blurred from the video, and using what appears to be a civilian mobile phone rather than an Airwave set? Was it a test of ESN (Emergency Services Network?) Did CID have the place already under observation for some reason?

Yet when a railway engineer says exactly to this to the press the minister in question threatens their employer with withholding government contracts unless they are fired??

Euston is not in fit condition, says rail minister bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c1e742

BBC NewsEuston Station is no longer in fit condition, says rail ministerLord Hendy said the terminus had deteriorated to the point where its marble columns are held together by bands.

Does this look like the new Labour minister in charge of rail is both a bully and more concerned about squashing criticism than safety?

Yet again on the West Coast South:

* A train has broken down departing Euston
* Train has damaged pantographs [two units, one per unit]
* Overhead wire system is damaged
* Train requires evacuation [peak train heading North, ca. 700 passengers on board]
* Significant disruption to all services into/out of Euston due to at least one line being out of action

The West Coast South route between Hanslope Junction and London Euston:

* Frequently has two tracks out of four closed weekdays at night for routine works [usually from 22:00 to 06:00]
* Frequently has two tracks out of four closed Saturdays from 20:00 to end of service for routine works
* Frequently has two tracks out of four closed Sundays from start of service until around 12:00 Noon for routine works

Given this unprecedented level of access for a busy mainline into the nation's capital, why is the infrastructure south of Hanslope Junction an absolute mess?

It's almost as if the Ruling Party wants #HS2 to fail so they can declare #railways dead and build more #roads

"The chief executive of Mace Group, the construction firm contracted to deliver HS2’s #Euston station, warned yesterday that the government is ignoring advice on how to drum up private sector funding to see the project through."

CityAM · The government must get a grip on HS2 Euston’s private funding debacleNews that the government is ignoring advice on how to get how to drum up private sector funding to deliver HS2’s Euston station is deeply worrying.

#Euston have "upgraded" their #signs recently.

In the area that they used to show train information, it's just some pointless animation, and they have added two separate displays.
One that basically says "from today things have changed", which blocks the view for a lot of people of the display that actually displays useful information.

Well played....

Hmmm... as previously noted, #JeremyHunt successfully lobbied to get #HS2 to start at #Euston, not in the suburbs (wherever it might go Northwards), but now the property development aspect of Euston station has been enlarged & is expected to cause a decade of disruption in the area.

Wait a minute, I hear you day, isn't Euston in #KeirStarmer's constituency?

Would it be too cynical to see this as a way of undermining the Labour Leader's grip on his seat in the future?

Plans for #euston cut back - number of platforms for high-speed trains cut from 11 to six

Why on earth were there EVER going to be 11 platforms!?

It looks to me like #HS2 was grotesquely over-specced in expectation a competent govt would cut it down - but that never happened

Did nobody learn from the vast new teaching hospital Atriums , "longest champagne bar in Europe" at St Pancras - and further back the over-specced stations on the Jubilee Line Extension?
