"Why don't bicyclists respect traffic laws?"

Bicyclists don't respect traffic laws because the traffic laws don't respect us. Imagine driving and the roadway was covered in rocks, a giant truck right on your ass, and a sign every quarter mile that mandates you stop and get out of your car and stand while cement trucks roar by and may or may not yield.

The asinine expectation that bikes follow laws designed for cars is naive at best.
