The Australian government just approved Woodside's gas project extension until 2070, effectively giving them $215 billion worth of gas for free while Aussie punters pay some of the world's highest energy prices. Corporate media covered it as "activists vs government" drama, completely ignoring that we're literally handing our wealth to tax-dodging gas cartels who don't even pay royalties #auspol #Woodside #gascartel #gas #taxdodgers

#ClimateCriminals. Enough of this bs treating Australia’s resources like they belong to the USA or private capital. Where’s the accountability here?

“Gas producer Central Petroleum says it was excluded from bidding for a major Northern Territory gas supply contract which was awarded to US-based company Tamboran Resources without tender.

“The cost of that contract has not been shared with the public.

“The NT government and Tamboran announced the nine-year deal on Tuesday, saying it would satisfy nearly two-thirds of the territory's gas demand from 2026.

“Neither would say how much taxpayers would pay for the deal, and whether it was fixed price or subject to spikes in global gas prices.”

The PRRT is a broken tax. In many cases it collects no revenue Royalties and profits based taxes are gamed by the industry We give our gas away A simple royalty scheme in the form of a fixed $ take per GJ of gas produced would fix it #auspol #GasCartel
