Rising up above the River Wear in late summer, Durham's magnificent Norman cathedral in North East England.
I've photographed this amazing UNESCO World Heritage Site from numerous different vantage points and it never fails to impress.
However, this 'classic' view holds a special significance to me because, back in the day, before I picked up a camera, I used to paint and draw and this was a composition which would guarantee commissions!

Civita di Bagnoregio stands on a rock in Lazio, in central Italy. It’s also known as „the dying town” because that rock is very slowly falling apart. It has been established by Etruscans ages ago - they used to establish them on hills, tops of mountains. You can find many of such places across the country. It is said that the tunnel that can get you to the town from the bottom of the valley that sorrounds it was carved by Etruscans as well.
It is a remarakable place, a must-see if you’re close. There are some restaurants and cafes, some shops and museums. Overall it’s a quiet and unique place.

Moin.

Monument "Channel crossing to life"
@Hoek van Holland

This sculpture commemorates the Jewish children's transports of 1938-1939. Children from Germany, Austria, Czechoslovakia, and Poland were shipped to England via Hoek van Holland. With the help of Dutch citizens and refugee organizations, these children managed to escape deportation.

The Cross of Saint Peter, also known as the Petrine Cross, tops these gateposts leading in to Monkwearmouth's St Peter's Church in Sunderland.
The church on this ancient former monastic site still has its original Saxon tower and west wall dating from its foundation by Benedict Biscop in AD674.
Bede the Venerable (circa 673–735), who at the age of seven, was sent to the monastery of Monkwearmouth by his family to be educated by Benedict Biscop and later by Ceolfrith, later wrote that Benedict brought stonemasons and glassworkers from Gaul to build the church.
At the time of posting this photograph, the nearby National Glass Centre still continues the craft on Wearside of glass-making!
