'Earlier this month BBC Scotland News revealed a bottle containing the note had been found inside the Corsewall Lighthouse

Written with quill and ink and dated 4 September 1892, it revealed the names of the three workers who installed a new type of light in the 100ft (30m) tower.

www.bbc.comThe men who hid a note in a Scottish lighthouse 132 years agoExperts poring over censuses and newspaper archives have built up a rich picture of their lives.

Wonderful story a few days ago in the Boston Globe about Maria Herrick Bray (1828–1921), a Gloucester woman who kept the two lighthouses on Thatcher Island, off Cape Ann, lit for three days and nights during a snowstorm in 1864. And that's not all! She led a jam-packed life. Link is below, but silly Boston Globe doesn't let you give gift articles, so if you'd like to read the story, let me know. I have a Word doc I can send you. #CapeAnn #GloucesterMA #lighthouses

The Boston Globe · Mass. woman honored for keeping twin lighthouses ablaze during 1864 snowstormBy Jeremy C. Fox

"Sail Me Away" teableau for 11/07/24

Actively trying to not create teableaux that reflect my post-election state of mind, because I don't want to drive anyone to drink or anything, but yesterday's bleak "Fog" and today's somber "Sail Me Away" are the lightest I can do at the moment.

🇬🇧 Tonight's reading : an English book about Lightships, less known than the lighthouses but also essential for the safety on seas in the past. A what for hard living for those sea men of the extraordinary!

Have a great evening!
