Final for #ThursdayFiveList theme #SupportYourLocals for turn of the century #Minneapolis music scene:

Flipp. They defined late 90s/early 00s music in Minnesota, even hosting teen band competitions and performances called "Teenage Rampage," which is where I was introduced to Faux Jean and The Melismatics! They performed at the 90s Woodstock and dumped cereal on the crowd. I went to at least a dozen of their shows.

Cold Cranking Amps. I squeezed through the entry of the (now gone) Sursumcorda bar to the back room to hear the last (?) performance of Cold Cranking Amps, who I'd never heard before. Their "Anxiety Blanket" CD was promptly memorized by me. Angsty staccato guitar is my soul music.

Third up for #ThursdayFiveList theme #SupportYourLocals for turn of the century #Minneapolis music scene:

Readygoes. A great almost glam-indie-rock who did covers and their own songs. I loved the lead singer's shiny silver shoes when he was on stage at The Press. I think I wore my red Readygoes t-shirt just last week...

The Melismatics! They are even performing next Friday in St. Paul! Listen to that funky bass line and wailing electric guitar...

Hey St. Paul, my friend who lives near Grand in the Rondo neighborhood in St. Paul has a 17 year old son who is looking for his first part-time job. It could be literally anything. He has no work experience yet. He does not have a car, but can bus/walk. He's been filling in applications with all the big retailers, etc. but no call backs yet. Any leads?
Air quality was much better today so bicycled for a nice 15 miles. I slept through the thunderstorms that tore up so many trees from mile marker 27 to mile marker 21 on the Root River Trail. Trail was cleared by locals and DNR of Minnesota really well. Feels good to start getting back to bicycling for pleasure after almost a month of traveling with only one bike share opportunity.
From Fringe Fest, to a pirate cruise, to the Here to Pee Comedy Tour, be sure to check out the many unique events happening this coming week. #MNFringe #MNastodon

#SilentSunday Oh deer, I wonder who they're paying their respects to?
The Soldiers and Pioneers Memorial Cemetery is the oldest graveyard in Minneapolis. It's located at a busy intersection in a density populated neighborhood not far from downtown. The gates are locked most of the time, except for tours and events. But nature finds a way in.

Are you enjoying bicycling on the Root River Trail?
Yes, deer.
#AlternateFridayMusic #Pop Where I'm from, we call "soda" "pop" so here's a band from around here singing a certain failed beverage.

Having finally looked at the endof10.org website, it's shocking how few linux installfests there are in the US -- the website lists *2*.
I know we're all utterly exhausted by the ongoing fascist coup, but this seems like a low-effort high-return effort we should be supporting.
Maybe we could get the hennepin county ifixit clinics to support it?
@MplsPhotoBot Garage D'OR! Record store! My happy place for several years. #MNastodon 26th and Nicolett
My 2 Bicycles and a Bike Share bike from the Rushord Public Library through the past few months. Automatically done so scale shifts a bit more than I wanted, but overall happy with this.
It is sunny, 24C (with a high of 26C), slight breeze, and beautiful summer day today. A day I even have off of work!
But the air quality index is 134 (unhealthy for sensitive groups), which also means it stinks outside.
So another day inside, I guess.
