So #motorcycle riders of the fediverse… what kind of minimal dashcam would you recommend? I have been riding since the early 1980s without any “incidents” on paved public roads (though I’ve hade my share of falls on dirt tracks while competing in rallies in a previous life). But now I thought of getting some tech “just-in-case” scenarios given my work commute these days are like this : share.icloud.com/photos/0305ao

I would prefer a reliable, battery operated dashcam that can last my 40 minute ride to work (where I can recharge). That footage was from the akaso ek7000 but it looks bulky and clumsily mounted and probably will attract attention if left on the bike when parked. Any suggestions for a budget of around 200$? Tending towards insta360 go 3 - slightly beyond budget. Anyone use iPhones as dashcam without damaging the phone?

There are days I hate people more than on others.

Slept in a campsite tonight, tried to fell asleep while some drunk idiots were shouting in the distance.

A #motorcyclist, camping next to me with his bike next to his tent, started the engine and rode away at 6:40 waking up not only me but the whole camp.

Next, having my breakfast under a small covered area while it’s raining, a fucker smokes upwind next to me.

I'd like to nominate for the #Darwin award the 200 or so #motorists who tonight drove past (nearly over) a #motorcyclist who was lying on the ground after a serious #roadaccident on #TulseHill #London. Clearly no fucks given about human life, they just beeped and drove round over the pavement, with debris everywhere, cos the guy dared delay their journey. I had heard the horrible noise of crushed metal but thought no one had been injured from the way #cars were driving thereafter. I was wrong.

So after I started learning to ride late last year I managed to finally fulfil a dream and passed my full test to become a fully fledged Motorcyclist.

Big thanks to those who gave me some top advice including things like ‘Helmet up, tyres down’ and ‘treat everyone else on the road like they are out to kill you’.

I'd like to use this differently to how I used those, in that I kept professional and personal separate. Here, I want to be whole.

So personally, I'm a cat, dog & 20 year old person Mum; a #motorcyclist & retro car fan; a crafter & my fave is #crochet; I love all things colourful, unusual and alternative; have an inappropriate sense of humour; am politically #leftwing but respect that others have different & just as valuable views; I'm a believer in #Bitcoin & that it is as transformative as the internet itself.

Professionally & academically, I am a Product Manager trying to transpose what problems I hear from customers and stakeholders into a selection of roadmaps with a team of Product Owners and feature teams; I was previously a software engineer for many years, & before that trained to be a mechanic. I am studying (very, very slowly) for a Master's degree in Systems Thinking.

Oh, & I'm trying to learn to play Baritone #saxophone in whatever spare time is left over!
