Dawn Tåke 🌙 :sparkletrans:<p>So</p><p>I took a course this week on doing a Raspberry Pi program for work. I liked it, and it got me more interested in my own potential projects. Though this has led me to several questions.</p><p>First, I'd like to make a <a href="https://tech.lgbt/tags/NextCloud" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>NextCloud</span></a> server. I thought I might use a <a href="https://tech.lgbt/tags/Rock64" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Rock64</span></a> instead of a <a href="https://tech.lgbt/tags/RaspberryPi" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>RaspberryPi</span></a> 4 as I like <a href="https://tech.lgbt/tags/Pine64" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Pine64</span></a>. But there isn't a ton of documentation? At least not like RP. Does anyone have a link to a good tutorial for a neophyte?</p><p>The next thing I thought about was a <a href="https://tech.lgbt/tags/PieHole" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>PieHole</span></a>. an RP Zero 2 W is suggested as it's cheap. Is there a way to connect via ethernet with one of these, or do I have to rely on wifi?</p><p>Lastly, I thought about setting up a <a href="https://tech.lgbt/tags/Sharkey" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Sharkey</span></a> <a href="https://tech.lgbt/tags/Mastodon" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Mastodon</span></a> or whatever server on the above Rock64/RP4. Any sugesstions?</p><p>Lastly lastly, could one device do all of this, or would that be too great of a strain?</p><p>Caveat: I need a GUI. Command line is too big of a pain to <em>also</em> figure out at the same time.</p><p>Thanks.</p><p><a href="https://tech.lgbt/tags/TechHelp" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>TechHelp</span></a> <a href="https://tech.lgbt/tags/AskFedi" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>AskFedi</span></a></p>
Christos Argyropoulos MD, PhD<p>Found our the hard way that the <a href="https://mstdn.science/tags/Bionic" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Bionic</span></a> legacy <a href="https://mstdn.science/tags/Armbian" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Armbian</span></a> works with the <a href="https://mstdn.science/tags/RockPro64" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>RockPro64</span></a> (the Armbian 23.8 Bookworm Cinnamon Desktop would not even let the SBC power up). But the legacy kernel allows hardware acceleration in the X system and very smooth video experience. I am wondering if I should downgrade the Armbian in my <a href="https://mstdn.science/tags/Rock64" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Rock64</span></a>, because the GPU does not fire up when using X.</p>
Christos Argyropoulos MD, PhD<p>Is installing <a href="https://mstdn.science/tags/Redis" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Redis</span></a> on a <a href="https://mstdn.science/tags/Rock64" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Rock64</span></a> <a href="https://mstdn.science/tags/SBC" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>SBC</span></a> and using it from <a href="https://mstdn.science/tags/perl" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>perl</span></a> an overkill?</p>

PheebeUK<p>I had a spare control board for my <a href="https://tech.lgbt/tags/Aquila" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Aquila</span></a> <a href="https://tech.lgbt/tags/3DPrinter" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>3DPrinter</span></a> (I thought it had failed, but turns out it was the thermistor...) so I investigated if klipper is supported. Turns out that the HC32 processor on the is actually supported thanks to somene's efforts. Cue me bumbling through the install for Armbian, klipper, mainsail, crowsnest. All of this running on a <a href="https://tech.lgbt/tags/Rock64" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Rock64</span></a> board that used to be an email server.</p><p>Everything seems to work without having the mechanics of the printer itself connected. At some point I should psych myself up for pulling the printer apart and swapping over the boards.</p><p>Maybe I should print a case first though?</p>

Karen C<p>I kinda want to use the <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/ReconSentinel" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>ReconSentinel</span></a> SBC as a driver for the resin printer (mostly because they happened to arrive the same week) but it looks like this model only accepts static USB sticks.
