Hi #rstats fam, the expression, which is created on the fly, when parsed creates the error which I think is from the neg values, that is why the values are enclosed. The variables are the data from which the expression is evaluated. After enclosing the values, the error persists. Any ideas?

Hey #Gischat I am looking at way to represent continental US with AK, HI and PR.

It seems that the consensus is to use 'ESRI:102003' (an Albers equal-area conic projection), reproject AK, HI and PR (each one with their specific crs) and move + "rescale" them. AK will be smaller then.

Good example in code is here: github.com/walkerke/tigris/blo (for #Rstats needs)

Are they any other option?

Hello #RStats ! I'm facilitating a new free @DSLC Advanced R adv-r.hadley.nz cohort soon! It's been 5+ years since I read this excellent book by @hadleywickham , so I'm giving it a re-read. Let's learn to embrace {{ tidy evaluation }}, purrr::reduce() repetition, and count S/R #OOP systems!

Join the DSLC.io Slack, then navigate to the #bookclub-advr channel!

BTW, I plan to cover {{ and #S7 in the club, even though they didn't make it into the book!

Just released #rnaturalearth v1.1.0 for #rstats.

github.com/ropensci/rnaturalea

- Download data directly using GDAL’s virtual file system – no extraction needed!

- Move to modern GeoPackage format when load = FALSE – more efficient than shapefiles.

- Raster data (GeoTIFF) now saved directly from zip, making workflows smoother.

- Faster loading with lazy imports (#119, thanks @heavywatal)

- Better messages via the cli package

New features

Data is now downloaded using the GDAL Virtual File System, allowing ne_download() to read data directly from the zip file without requiring extraction.
