Monissa<p>Castell Caerdydd (Cardiff Castle) is in the centre of Cardiff As you can see.</p><p>It's another Norman keep (I think the stone version is from the 12th century), built on the site of a Roman fort. Disruptive locals? <br>It's a motte & bailey castle (this is obvious when the trees aren't in the way) with a shell keep. Monissa<p>Chepstow Castle was a Norman castle (you know, built to keep the Welsh out, or in). It's one of the castles of the Welsh Marches and one of the oldest Britain. Started in 1067. Until I happened upon the wild blueberries, this weeks hike had been all about walls and ferns. I'm constantly amazed at the number of stone walls, and the distances they run thru New England, in even the most remote locations. #hiking #getoutside #NewEngland #StoneWalls #ferns #blueberries
I’ve been clearing debris from our brook and stone walls this weekend. It was chilly and raw but at least the bugs were scarce!
What a great idea for a new field of #science. This professor is proposing the categorization of all #StoneWalls hand-built while clearing fields during early #America. He’s from #NewEngland, but I know we have them here in #California too.
According to the article, the mass of the combined walls is greater than the Egyptian Pyramids, the Chinese Great Walls and Adrian‘s Wall combined.
