@HannahHowe I'm always conflicted about Spirit in the Sky as, to paraphrase Tim Minchin, I quite like the song but the lyrics are dodgy.
@Chigaze @HannahHowe IMO that's an apt description of one of the songs on the list alright, but it's not Spirit in The Sky (which, while it doesn't gel with my own beliefs is pretty harmless).
On the other hand, did you ever sit down and actually listen to the lyrics of In The Summertime? Dodgy as hell on at least 2 levels by today's standards.
That said, I voted for it precisely because of the incongruity between the sunny music and the borderline horrifying lyrics. Makes me laugh every time.
@JimBliss No argument about In The Summertime but the reason I made the Tim Minchin reference was because it's specifically about religious songs.
@HannahHowe I only know one of these songs (Spirit in the Sky), and don't like that one! No option to vote for 0 -- LOL
