Hi, Ian here, of the Leafe variety.
Lived in #Caerleon from the age of 4; 67, until leaving the teacher training college for QEBS in Barnet to teach Physics and Science; 85.
Tories catalyst for leaving after 3 years and going into IT; 6 years at ESAB WX.
Spent several decades contracting, retiring in 2019.
Trying to come to terms with #Retirement, pastimes too few #audiobooks; #scifi, #history, #mystery and Web.
Will try to learn Welsh, rather slowly methinks!
@Tanhouse1 Hi, I'm retired for 4 years and still coming to terms with it! I do enjoy #scifi though. Have you read Artifact Space by Miles Cameron? Worth a read.
@NikonPhil Will take a look cheers, middle of an Abercrombie atm.
@NikonPhil Only worry is book 1 of a series. Very old me, also been caught out by JV Jones and GRRM regarding unfinished series. Excellent rating on goodreads though!
@Tanhouse1 yes, I've been caught out by that as well (thinking The Name of the Wind, Patrick Rothfuss).
My daughter studied MA in Eng Lit. and now works at Mr B's Emporium in Bath https://mrbsemporium.com/ They do a subscription service and choose books for you based on your reading history and interests - it's uncannily good.
@NikonPhil just having a look at Mr B's.
I have audible membership, so just added a short novella by Miles Cameron; The Messenger. In the free books section for members.
Normally either walking whilst listening or nod off to a book in bed.
Get through a few books as time rich!
Goodreads useful becausefriends and people I follow give ratings and sometimes reviews.
@Tanhouse1
Welcome Ian, give learning Welsh a go. It's great fun and you will laugh a lot!
@anniemo71 many thanks, hopefully
