On #Countryfile tonight. Sorry London but you can fuck right off. We remember #CapelCelyn. This idea needs to be utterly destroyed by the Welsh government asap. #Welsh #water #dŵr #Cymru #CofiwchDryweryn #LlynEfyrnwy #LakeVyrnwy

There more than just #CapelCelyn to remember. There's oppression of a culture and language too.
@druid what is this about?
@alexgranford Water shortages in and around London are forecast to get worse due to rising population and climate change. Some English politicians and water companies think the answer is to just take the water from the country next door. This is historically an extremely sensitive area as an entire Welsh village was forcefully drowned just to provide water to the English city of Liverpool. The people of Wales were powerless to stop it despite protesting to the very end.

@druid yes we have been many times to Elan Valley, their Victorian reservoirs and dams are some of the most beautiful industrial sites we have seen.
Would be very happy to learn more about their history and casualties inflicted during construction.
@alexgranford They are very beautiful. Amazing bit of engineering.
@druid
Totally agree with you!
